THE TOP TWENTY  -   REEL STORY VERSUS REAL STORY

1.   Reel:  1991 Championship was played at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, IA
      Real:  1991 Championship was played at Marshalltown IA High School field
2.   Reel:   A boy from Chicago who smoked/drugs played on the team & lived with his Norway grandparents.
      Real:   No boy from Chicago played on the team.  Norway players did not smoke, drink or do drugs.
3.   Reel:   The bus driver had a heart attack while driving the bus.
      Real:   The father of one of the players used to drive the bus but had a heart attack behind the
                 bleachers in the last inning of the final championship game.
4.   Reel:   One of the players quit before the 1991 summer season.
      Real:   Tyson Kimm quit to join his major league father, Bruce Kimm in San Diego.
                 Tyson was later drafted by the Phillies.
5.   Reel:   Norway did a nine minute infield drill.
      Real:   Norway did a nine minute infield drill prior to each game.
6.   Reel:   Norway ball players played hard rubber behind the school.
      Real:   Norway ball players played hard rubber against the side of the old gym.
7.   Reel:   Norway won 20 of the 29 state championships they qualified for.

      Real:   No one filled the dugout with volleyballs.

16. Reel:   A little girl sang the Star Spangled Banner at the last championship game.
      Real:   The Star Spangled Banner was sung by a high school student, however, there was a little girl from
                  Norway who sang the Star Spangled Banner at Norway home games.
17. Reel:   In the last inning a Norway player intentionally got on base by getting hit by a pitched ball.
      Real:   This did not happen.  However, a player who was 0-3 for the game got the hit that tied the game.
18. Reel:   The Norway players received a welcome home riding on a fire truck.
      Real:   Norway players always received a fire truck ride after a championship.
19. Reel:   Coach Jim Van Scoyoc quit before the last season to coach with the Detroit Tigers.
