| Grand Opening |
Thanks to everyone who came on Saturday, June 26th to our museum grand opening. Despite an early morning storm that took out one of our tents and soaked our ball field, we got started on time. Many bikers came through town, baked goods enough to fill a big city bakery appeared, and volunteers lined up to help. By 11 AM our 45 minute parade was under way with many great floats and other entries. Master of Ceremonies, Loras Schulte spoke at the NOON grand opening ceremony. Coaches Bernie Hutchinson and Jim Van Scoyoc cut the ribbon to officially open IOWA BASEBALL MUSEUM OF NORWAY. Crowds filled the museum and lined up at the trailer for Norway Tee Shirts, Final Season memorabilia and more. Former major leaguers Hal Trosky, Jr, Bruce Kimm, and Mike Boddicker signed autographs. Coaches in attendance were: Jack Davis, Pinky Primrose, Larry Nulph, Bernie Hutchinson, Kim Muhl, Jim VanScoyoc and Kent Stock. Umpires were Marv Bell and Jeff Frese. By 1 PM old timers games were underway at the main ball diamond and little league games started at the two upper diamonds. Everyone enjoyed baseball food, cold drinks, silent auction, hot air balloon walk, and music on the hot, humid day. At dusk THE FINAL SEASON movie played while everyone enjoyed popcorn and other goodies.
